WATCH: West Kingston senior citizens feted for Christmas
Over 3,000 senior citizens of West Kingston were treated to various food and personal-care items by Member of Parliament Desmond McKenzie on Christmas Day.
It was the 61st staging of the event which is held annually during the Christmas season.
“We have continued, whether we are in government or whether we are in Opposition, we have always maintained that tradition for the last 61 years,” McKenzie said.
“The importance of Christmas is not just about fun, it’s about sharing and ensuring that those who are not as fortunate as we are, that they have the benefit of the Christmas,” he added.
The MP added that treats are also planned for children of the constituency.
“We are not only looking after you the elderly but right across the constituency, (Thursday) and Friday, we’re going to be having six children’s treat right across the constituency,” McKenzie said. “Christmas we all come together as one as one family.”
