KFC and Food for the Poor deliver ‘Wings of Hope’
RESTAURANT of Jamaica (ROJ), through its brand KFC, culminated a month-long series of Christmas activities when it partnered with Food For the Poor Jamaica (FFPJ) to host the annual ‘Wings of Hope’ Christmas Treat.
For the fifth-consecutive year, KFC has amplified its efforts, donating 1,300 meals to brighten the lives of more than 700 children and caregivers from 25 homes and care facilities islandwide.
The event, held last Friday at FFPJ’s headquarters in Spanish Town, St Catherine, was the final stop on KFC’s Christmas journey, which included visits to community centres and children’s homes across the island.
These efforts ensured that children and families alike could feel the warmth of the season, no matter their circumstances.
The ‘Wings of Hope’ Christmas Treat benefited children from institutions including Clifton Boys’ Home, Garland Hall Children’s Home, Jamaica National Children’s Home, Maxfield Park Children’s Home, Blossom Gardens Place of Safety, among others, ensuring the joy of the season reached every corner of Jamaica.
KFC Jamaica’s Marketing Manager Andrei Roper expressed the brand’s continued dedication to community engagement.
“This year, we wanted to go beyond delivering meals, we wanted to deliver hope, joy, and smiles to as many children as possible. The Wings of Hope Christmas Treat is a testament to what can be achieved when we come together to make a difference.
“We are proud to partner with Food For the Poor Jamaica to close out a month of giving back, and we remain steadfast in our mission to support the communities we serve,” said Roper.
In the meantime FFPJ’s Development, Public Relations and Marketing Manager Marsha Burrell-Rose described the ‘Wings of Hope’ Christmas Treat as a “heartwarming highlight of the organisation’s year-round efforts to support childcare facilities across the island”.
She pointed out that FFPJ provides essential monthly support to these homes, ensuring they receive food, supplies, and other necessities.
“In December, the annual Christmas treat allows the children to come together in a safe and festive environment where they can play and experience the joy of the holiday season,” said Burrell-Rose.
“Partnerships like these make all the difference. We are immensely grateful to KFC for their continued generosity and commitment to our cause and we thank them for continuously pouring into us and our projects.
“Their sponsorship ensures that this event is not only possible but also memorable for the children we serve. Beyond support with housing and food, we want organisations to see FFPJ as an entity they can come to for other sustainable community-based projects as well,” Burrell-Rose added.
