Text message trouble
Flow agrees to honour erroneous promotion
Dear Claudienne,
I live in St James. I received a text message from Flow on my phone on 20/08/2024.The message stated:
“Need a phone upgrade? Grab the Samsung A05 with a 28-day unlimited social talk and text plan for just $8,400. Perfect for new and switching customers. Get yours now!”
I purchased a new Digicel SIM and went to the Montego Bay Church Street office of Flow to buy the Samsung A05 Phone. I explained to one of the employees that I had received the text message from Flow about the promotional phone offer and I also showed her the text.
She said that the actual promotion was that you get a SIM with the phone and have to pay $3,700 for a few months, after which the phone would become free.
When I told her about the text that I had received, she did not give me an explanation or clarification but repeated the offer I had received via the text message.
After a few days I went to the Fairview Branch of Flow and registered to speak with a customer service representative (CSR).
When I saw the CSR I explained and showed her the text message that I had received from Flow.
She then said: “The text message you received has been sent in error.”
I then asked to speak to her manager. When the manager arrived I showed her the text message that I had received from Flow. The manager then explained to me what the actual offer was.
“So what about the text message that I have received?” I asked the manager. The manager did not answer my question but kept repeating the offer like a tape recorder.
I am requesting you to please look into this matter for me.

Dear YC,
Tell Claudienne has been in discussion with Flow in regard to your disquiet.
The column notes that Flow has agreed to offer you the phone on the terms that were stated in the text message you received.
Flow has sent you the following email:
“As per our discussion, Flow will offer you the device (Samsung A05) and plan (28-day data) as per your request at $8,400+GCT.
Mr Velmore Coke, who is the store manager at Flow Church Street, should be asked for when you visit.
Thank you for your patience.”
We wish you all the best.
