Goddy Goddy set to release new album next year
It’s been eight years since his last album, Ghetto Priest, was released, and gospel deejay and minister Goddy Goddy says the musical drought will end with the release of a new album in early 2025.
The still-untitled project will be his fifth full-length release, and it will feature production work by veteran producer Danny Browne.
“I’m working on a new project with Danny Browne… and we’re looking forward to dropping it early next year,” Goddy Goddy told the Jamaica Observer on Friday.
The artiste’s other albums were the self-titled Goddy Goddy in 2000, Warfare in 2004, Next Dimension in 2011.
In October Goddy Goddy was honoured by Sterling Gospel Music Awards for his contribution to the gospel fraternity.
“Well, you know, I feel really honoured about it, because I’ve been in the gospel fraternity for over two decades and I’ve never ever received an award for the work that I’ve put in. I’ve received awards for songs, but I’ve never been honoured for the years that I have been doing this. I’m blessed and I’m pleased,” he said.
He became a born-again Christian in 1999, later being ordained as a pastor in March 2008.
“My journey in music started in 1999 when I met Sam Wisdom and being a part of a programme called
Back to Basics that aired on Love FM. I began to gain popularity through that. I was 28 when I gave my life to God and my faith in Him has persevered all these years,” Goddy Goddy shared.
His breakthrough hit came in 2008.
“Thanks to Digicel Rising Stars, I performed the song Chaka Chai Chai and it became very popular. It is my biggest song to date. It has impacted my life in a major way and it took my career to the next level internationally,” said Goddy Goddy, who later became a brand ambassador.
