KFC makes Christmas merry with meal donations
EMBRACING the essence of Christmas, Restaurants of Jamaica, operators of KFC, has stepped forward season with an outpouring of kindness, extending its reach to those in need across Jamaica.
This Christmas, the quick-service restaurant, through its various initiatives, has so far donated more than 1,500 meals to spread warmth and joy during the holiday season. Supporting some of the most cherished holiday events in the country, KFC has partnered with key organisations and local area bodies to create special moments for children, seniors, caregivers, and patients alike.
These efforts included KFC’s collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Annual Christmas Treat, the Digicel Foundation’s Share the Love Christmas Treat, the YWCA Children’s Christmas Treat, the Norman Manley Law School Christmas Treat, The University Hospital of the West Indies Patients Christmas Treat, and the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre’s annual celebration for patients with disabilities, plus numerous local area municipal Christmas treats all across the island.
By providing nourishing meals and sharing the festive spirit, KFC has helped in the joy of the season, creating lasting memories for hundreds of Jamaicans this season.
One of the first of these initiatives took place on Thursday, December 12, when KFC partnered with online medical platform MD Link, to support the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre’s Christmas treat, donating 80 meals to patients and staff.
This annual event, which brings festive cheer to individuals living with disabilities, was made even more special, thanks to KFC’s contribution.
Director and CEO of MD Link, Dr Ché Bowen, expressed his gratitude, saying, “This annual treat has become a cherished tradition, bringing joy and a sense of togetherness to the patients and staff at the facility. These initiatives go beyond a simple meal; they uplift spirits, foster community, and remind us all of the importance of kindness and giving back.
“This year marked our 5th Annual Christmas Charity Luncheon with the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre family. We are truly grateful to KFC for their continued support and generosity. The positive impact of these efforts is deeply felt, and we encourage KFC to continue these meaningful initiatives that make such a difference in the lives of those that need it most.”
The following day KFC continued its mission of spreading holiday cheer by supporting the Digicel Foundation’s ‘Share the Love’ Christmas Treat at Hope Zoo. KFC donated 150 meals, adding a special touch to the day for children with special needs and caregivers.
Digicel Foundation CEO, Charmaine Daniels, expressed her gratitude for the partnership.
“At the Digicel Foundation, we believe in spreading joy, especially during the Christmas season. We are incredibly grateful to KFC for being one of the first partners to come on board for our Share the Love Christmas Treat.
“Their generous support, providing delicious meals for every child, added an extra touch of warmth and care to this special occasion. Partnerships like these truly make a difference, and we thank KFC for helping us create lasting smiles and beautiful memories for the children with special needs,” said Daniels.
KFC’s holiday outreach continued at the Prime Minister’s Annual Christmas Treat on December 15, where the company made another meaningful contribution. In partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister, KFC provided 350 meals and 350 school packages to children who are wards of the State.
These gifts brought joy to the children during the festive season and helped equip them with the resources they need to succeed in the coming year.
Press Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Naomi Francis, shared appreciation on behalf of their team.
“We are delighted that KFC and its associated brands and other corporate entities have partnered with us for the annual Christmas Treat. More than 300 children from 10 children’s homes and care facilities were feted this year on the grounds of the OPM. The support and corporate social responsibility thrust of our partners in this endeavour has impacted and enriched the lives of our children. We look forward to the continued support of our partners in providing assistance to our children from the OPM,” said Francis.
