Man gunned down at traffic light moments after arriving in Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A Jamaican man who had just arrived on the island from a trip overseas was gunned down at a traffic light on his way home from the airport on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Rohan Campbell of a St James address.
Reports are that Campbell, who had just arrived on the island on a Panama flight, chartered a JUTA tours taxi from the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
It is reported that upon reaching a traffic light at the intersection of Sir Florizel Glasspole Highway and Windward Road in St Andrew, a Toyota Probox stopped on the passenger side of the chartered taxi and an occupant alighted from it and immediately opened gunfire.
Campbell sustained gunshot wounds to the upper regions of his body. The culprits then escaped.
The incident happened about 3:20 pm.
The police are investigating.
