Music, movie for Christmas Joy In The Bass
All is set for another staging of Christmas Joy In The Bass at the Ambassador Theatre in Trench Town, Kingston, on Wednesday starting at 5:00 pm.
The event — spearheaded by Joy Town Community Development Foundation supported by The Best Dressed Chicken, Agency For Inner City Renewal (AIR), The Optimist Club of Trench Town, and Glory Music — will be headlined by Carlene Davis.
She will be performing her latest Christmas song Christmas Inna Trench Town as part of her set.
“When all is said and done, the music that inspire people all over the world has its foundation in Trench Town, that’s reggae. Like the song says, ‘Although we may not have a Christmas tree, we have our music to make us feel nice during the season,” Davis told the
Jamaica Observer.
Christmas Joy In The Bass, a concert and movie night, will be done in a way that the people will participate up close and personal during Davis’s performance of the song.
The evening’s offerings will also highlight community talent, among them Transformation Band and giveaway of presents to children by the Optimist Club of Trench Town.
The song, written by Davis’s husband and manager Tommy Cowan, was recorded at JaMIN Recording studio in Trench Town and Carlene’s home studio Judah Recording Studio.
Meanwhile, Major Richard Cooke, president of Joy Town Community Foundation, noted that although the annual event will be formatted differently this year, he still anticipates a successful staging.
“We’ve scaled it down, and we said, maybe it’s an opportunity to get more of the community involved…. We have Carlene Davis, who will be performing a song publicly for the first time, and then we’re going to have a movie. Because we have less artistes we’re going to have a movie about Jesus pointing people to the reason for the season,” Major Cooke told the Observer.
