Unbelievable Force dominates Charles Hussey OD Trophy feature
As predicted, Unbelievable Force, the impressive three-year-old American-bred runner conditioned by Philip Feanny, put on a show-stopping performance to easily claim the $1.25-million Charles Hussey OD Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Sunday.
With title-chasing jockey Reyan Lewis aboard, Unbelievable Force made all the running, leading from start to finish to win the Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward by a commanding 5 ¼ lengths. The five-furlong (1,000m) sprint on the straight course proved to be a cakewalk for the talented filly.
Unbelievable Force burst out of the gates, taking the lead ahead of Posing Already (Shane Ellis), Sugar Daddy (Reyan Lewis), Awesome Anthony (Javaniel Patterson), and Mrs Lyndhurst (Oneil Mullings). As the field approached the dummy rails, Unbelievable Force upped the tempo, leaving her rivals in her wake.
In the final two-furlong drive to the wire, Unbelievable Force accelerated, powering home to win easily ahead of Mrs Lyndhurst and Burlap (Phillip Parchment) in that order. The final time for the race was a zippy 58.3 seconds (23.2 x 46.0).
It was the second winner for Roman on the day. Roman’s other winner was with a chance ride aboard Princess Cataleya for trainer Patrick Lynch in the second race, after Dane Nelson was stood down for the day.
Lynch and jockey Reyan Lewis also enjoyed a double victory on the nine-race card.
In addition to Princess Cataleya, Lynch saddled and Strong Mind (ridden by Reyan Lewis, replacing Nelson) in seventh race, the Miss Ruth Trophy.
Lewis had earlier teamed up with trainer Barrington Dawes to win with Papa Gray in the sixth event.
Racing is to continue on Saturday.
