Funeral underway for Ambassador Madge Barrett
KINGSTON, Jamaica— A thanksgiving service for Ambassador Madge Barrett is underway at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Chapel in St Andrew.
Barrett, a prominent member of Jamaica’s diplomat services for decades, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024. She was 87.
A former director of protocol in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Barrett oversaw Jamaica’s hosting of many dignitaries from overseas.

Barrett was named Ambassador Special Envoy after she was vested with the national honour Commander of the Order of Distinction in recognition of her outstanding service.
