CIB beat MOE in epic domino Christmas Cup showdown
In a heart-stopping, edge-of-your-seat domino clash, Covenant Insurance Brokers (CIB) outmanoeuvred Ministry of Education (MOE) to seize the coveted 2024 Winners Domino Christmas Cup on Friday.
The contest, held at the Mystic Sports Bar and Lounge on Hagley Park Road, saw CIB emerge victorious by a 15-point margin, 87-72.
The stage was set for an epic battle as both teams had previously clashed twice this season, with each side claiming a win in the group stages.
The highly anticipated rematch did not disappoint, with both teams trading blows and winning games in a frenetic start.
As the match progressed, CIB, fuelled by their determination and skill, began to pull away. They surged to an 11-point lead midway through the first half, leaving MOE struggling to keep pace. However, the MOE team refused to back down, launching a spirited comeback that trimmed the deficit to six points.
Undaunted by the pressure, CIB demonstrated their mental toughness, remaining calm and composed as they continued to execute their game plan with precision. By the break, CIB had re-established a 10-point advantage, 49-39, setting the stage for a thrilling second half.
The second half was just as intense, with MOE coming out firing, claiming wins on all four tables to immediately reduce the lead to six points. They continued to push, securing a 3-1 win advantage in the next round to cut the score to four points, with CIB leading 50-46.
The match had reached a boiling point, with neither team willing to give an inch. Despite losing 1-5 on one of their tables, CIB made a critical adjustment that paid dividends. With renewed determination, the CIB team turned up the heat, extending their lead throughout the remainder of play.
In the end, CIB’s strategic brilliance and skilful play proved too much for MOE, as they cruised to a well-deserved 87-72 victory. The win marked a triumphant moment for the CIB team, who celebrated their championship title in style.
