Unbelievable Force set to rebound in Charles Hussey OD Trophy feature
Unbelievable Force, trained by Philip Feanny, is poised to bounce back from her recent disappointing run and dominate the $1.25-million Charles Hussey OD Trophy feature at Caymanas Park today.
Despite being the overwhelming favourite in her last outing on November 23, Unbelievable Force failed to deliver, finishing sixth by 11 ¼ lengths behind Money Market, Freedom Street, and She’s A Godgift.
However, facing lesser opposition in this Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over five furlongs (1,000m), Unbelievable Force is expected to make amends. She has a proven track record over this distance, having won by four-and-a-half lengths in a smooth 59.2 on September 14.
Unbelievable Force has also shown her readiness for this race with a strong workout, galloping four furlongs out of the straight in 47.3. With title-chasing jockey Raddesh Roman aboard for her eighth career start on local soil, Unbelievable Force is poised to make this race a walk in the park.
The race is positioned as the ninth and final event on the day, with a post time of 5:05 pm but the first race is at 11:45 am.
While Unbelievable Force is expected to dominate the Charles Hussey OD Trophy, the intriguing aspect of the race lies in determining which horses will fill out the minor placings. Based on the quality of the field, Power Ranking, Posing Already, Sugar Daddy, Speedie Hare, and Mrs Lyndhurst appear to be the top contenders to follow Unbelievable Force home.
A closer examination of the runners’ last performances at the five-furlong distance reveals some notable differences. Speedie Hare boasts the fastest time, clocking 59.4 seconds on October 20 when finishing third behind Press Conference and Taurus Boy. The other contenders have also shown impressive speed, with Power Ranking (1:00.3), Sugar Daddy (1:00.2), and Mrs Lyndhurst (1:00.3) all breaking the one-minute barrier. Posing Already trails slightly behind with a time of 1:01.2.
Despite Speedie Hare’s impressive credentials, Mrs Lyndhurst is tipped for the second spot, despite drawing the outside stall at number 16.
Also on tap is the $1.01-million Miss Ruth Trophy, a maiden special weight contest for native-bred two year-olds over six-and-a-half furlongs (1,300m).
This event is Race #4 in the Betting, Gaming, and Lotteries Commission (BGLC)/Thoroughbred Owners Breeder’s Association Millionaire Series.
A field of eight will face the starter with Ideal Winna, Sensational Soul, and Strong Mind being the top contenders.
