Bootylicious dominates rivals in Ahwhofah Sprint feature
Bootylicious delivered yet another scintillating performance to win the $1.25-million Ahwhofah Sprint Trophy, the feature event on Saturday’s nine-race card.
Trained by Peter-John Parsard and ridden by champion jockey Reyan Lewis, the four-year-old bay filly dominated her rivals, crossing the finish line four-and-a-quarter lengths clear in the Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upwards.
Breaking well from the gate, Bootylicious engaged in an early battle with Joy Is Golden (Robert Halledeen). However, as the field approached the half-mile (800m) turn, Bootylicious began to assert her authority, increasing her lead, and coming off the final turn with a comfortable advantage. She maintained her gallop to the wire, stopping the clock in 1:12.4.
Digital One (Dane Dawkins) and Bern Notice (Shane Richardson) trailed behind the winner, securing second and third place, respectively.
Trainer Anthony Nunes and jockeys Tevin Foster and Dane Dawkins enjoyed a successful day at the track, each scoring two wins.
Nunes saddled Enthusiasm (Omar Walker) and Radam (Foster) in the second and seventh races, respectively. Foster earlier booted home Mudshaft in the third race for his double, giving trainer Matthew Williams his first winner.
Dawkins’ winners were She’s That Girl, in the fourth race for trainer Steven Todd, and Sippin On Sunshine in the eighth race for trainer Nicholas Wehby. The action continues today with another nine-race card.
