Defending champions Manning’s to meet Clarendon College in U-16 finale
Manchester High to face Glenmuir in U-14 showdown
DEFENDING champions Manning’s School and Clarendon College have set up a meeting for next week’s final of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Mighty Malt Rural Area Under-16 competition, after wins over St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and Munro College on Thursday.
Manning’s School scored a last-minute winner to edge STETHS 2-1 in their game at Manchester High field in Mandeville, while Clarendon College dominated Munro College 4-1 in the other semi-final contest at STETHS Sports Complex in Santa Cruz.
At Manchester High, Manning’s School came from a goal down to extend the defence of their title with a win over a good STETHS team.
Eckoney Robinson gave STETHS the lead in the 11th minute, but Manning’s responded almost immediately through Jarvis Meylor.
With the game headed for penalties Keandre Ellis found the winner in the 78th minute, two minutes before full time.
At STETHS, Justin Hayles scored twice while Lashaun Harris and Andre Brooks got one goal each for Clarendon College in their win over Munro College.
In the ISSA Burger King Under-14 semi-final, Manchester High edged Irwin High 1-0 at STETHS Sports Complex on Friday, a day after Glenmuir High had blanked Garvey Maceo High 3-0 in the first semi-final clash at Manchester High.
Samari Cousins scored a double for Glenmuir High on Thursday, netting in the 17th and 40th minutes, with Tristan Francis getting on the scoresheet in 25th.
In Friday’s rescheduled Under-14 game, Adrian Smith’s 23rd-minute penalty was the difference as Manchester High edged Irwin High, setting up a third clash against Glenmuir High this season.
