Rhianna Phipps, Kavian Kerr set meet records in Nebraska
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Former Jamaican junior representatives Rhianna Phipps and Kavian Kerr, both of the University of Nebraska, set meet records at Friday’s 2024 Husker Holiday Open indoor.
Phipps, the former Edwin Allen standout, won the women’s triple jump with a season’s best 12.35m.
Kerr, formerly of St Jago High, won the men’s 300m running a personal best 34.13 seconds.
Former Manchester High runner Shevanae Thomas of Lincoln University was second in the women’s 400m in a season best 56.16 seconds while her teammate Abigail Brooks was fourth in 57.73 seconds.
At the DePaul Blue Demon Holiday Invitational in Chicago, former Camperdown High twins Britannie and Britannia Johnson made their competitive debuts for the University of Purdue.
Britannie was second in the women’s weight throw with 18.37m, while Britannia was third with 17.73m.
Britannie was fifth in the women’s shot put with 13.89m and Britannia sixth with 13.16m.
