Jockeys’ Championship takes centre stage again following Mouttet Mile
The Mouttet Mile may be behind us, but the intense rivalry between leading jockeys Raddesh Roman and Tevin Foster is heating up. With six race days left in the 2024 season, the competition for the top spot is fiercer than ever.
On the day of the Mouttet Mile, Roman held a three-win lead over Foster, with 122 wins to Foster’s 119. However, Foster struck first on Mouttet Mile Day, securing a crucial win aboard Anthony Nunes’ Supremasi in the eighth event.
Despite facing challenging conditions, Foster took the lead inside the final furlong and a half of the seven-furlong race. Although Supremasi was distracted by the advertising boards, causing Foster to lose contact with the irons, he regained his balance and clinched the win, reducing his deficit to Roman to just two wins.
Roman responded swiftly, riding to victory in the ninth race aboard the two-year-old foreigner Runallday, trained by Philip Feanny. By the end of the race day, Roman managed to preserve his three-win lead.
With the jockeys’ championship title hanging in the balance, the rivalry between Roman and Foster is expected to intensify in the remaining six race days of the season. Will Roman hold on to his lead, or will Foster make a comeback to claim the top spot? The battle for supremacy is on, and racing fans are in for a thrilling ride.
