Elephant Man and Busy Signal team up for ‘Party Anthem 2.0’ for Christmas
Gee whiz, it’s that time of year again: Christmas. In the Yuletide spirit, dancehall superstars Elephant Man and Busy Signal have teamed up for Party Anthem 2.0, a super-charged dancehall song inspired by the R & B hit Gee Whiz, It’s Christmas by Carla Thomas.
The song was released with visuals over the weekend.
“The video ah gwaan well, it is the song for the december, Busy and Elephant Man. We plan to perform it on one of these shows in December, we ah go shell it live,” Elephant Man promised.
Since its release, the video has racked up thousands of views. Elephant Man said that the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive among fans and industry insiders.
“The reception so far has been crazy. All the disc jockeys, soundmen, everybody keep asking me about the song. It’s just been a good energy. Good to go,” he said.
He said that he realized that reggae and dancehall entertainers no longer released Christmas-themed songs and felt there was a need to fill that gap.
“I was in New York City and watching the vibes in the club and realized that ah long time we, the entertainers dem, nah give the people dem no Xmas carol. So I said I am going to do a ‘party Xmas carol’, so mi shout Busy (Signal), him hear the concept and love it. So me and Busy record it and shoot the video same time, and the ting up,” Elephant Man said.
Known for his boundless energy and vibrant stage presence, Elephant Man has rightfully earned the moniker of music’s ‘Energy God’.
Elephant Man, whose given name is Oneal Bryan, has been in the music industry since the 1990s, gaining much of his initial success as a member of the Scare Dem Crew. He later pursued his solo career and became a dancehall fan favourite with his electrifying performances and head-turning hair and outfits.
Elephant Man has had several major hit songs such as Pon De River, Gully Creepa, Log On and Nuh Linga as well as international collaborations with artistes like Wyclef Jean, Rihanna, Janet Jackson and Kat DeLuna.
He recently did the Jerk Festival and he is gearing up for a busy Christmas season with gigs at upcoming events such as the Atlanta Jerk Festival and the Orlando Jerk Festival in the United States.
