Ai Milly pays homage to love songs on PGLT
Trap dancehall artiste Ai Milly has released his first full body of work.
Titled PGLT (Pretty Girls Like Trap), the 20-track set features production work by Keanu “Shot by Deth” Gordon’s Deth Wrld Records and Krush Flo Records.
Released on November 29, PGLT is the follow-up to Ai Milly’s 2023 EP WTDO.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, Ai Milly stated that PGLT was dedicated to his female fans.
“This project is for the ladies, and me as well. A mi life dis, and wi do di trap music, and the girls love wi same way,” said Ai Milly.
He shared that PGLT shows a more mature side to him, an evolution that began after his debut EP was released.
“Music works with time and the way you feel. Is more like yuh grow and understand life weh mi go through,” said the Oracabessa, St Mary, native, who shot to prominence in 2022.
There are no listed features on PGLT, a move that the deejay said was strategic.
“Wi different, you nuh. Every project wi si people a drop have collaborations, so mi seh, mek mi try supp’n different. A Pablo [Pablo YG] mi did a wait pon fi sen back a track but it come een late,” said Ai Milly.
PGLT features the tracks Hold U (which samples Gyptian’s Hold Yuh), Belize (samples Akon’s Don’t Matter), Milly From Shein (samples Beyonce’s Dangerously in Love),
Love N Demons, Size 6, Ocean Eyes, God Said U, Heartbreaks R Sad, Silent Love,
Broken Pieces, Airplanes and Likkle Do U Know.
The album debuted at #3 on the iTunes Reggae Albums chart on November 29. Several of the tracks from the album have been doing well on multiple iTunes and YouTube Trending for Music charts. They include Heartbreaks R Sad (currently #13 on YouTube Trending for Music), Ocean Eyes (#13 on YouTube Trending), Love On TV (#16 on YouTube Trending), while Belize is #5 on iTunes.
Ai Milly is also currently charting on Trending charts with Live Life and The Therapist (featuring Chronic Law and DJ Mac) both of which are not included on PGLT.
“The album is getting a whole heap of love and I am just enjoying the achievements with the album. Mi just want di ting go international. Wi love yaad but wi haffi try go out deh inna di world,” he said.
Producer Deth Wrld said he enjoyed working with Ai Milly on PGLT.
“Wi have a good working chemistry in the studio so when mi and Milly link up, wi just get the work done. Working on this project was pretty easy-going, because there are a lot of emotions. The vibe of the project was about making songs about women and we that was achieved,” said Deth Wrld.
Born Kerron Senior, Ai Milly is 24 years of age.
Among his better-known songs are God Alone, Henny Energy, Trappest Life and What Joker Said.
