Cavalier FC could face Lionel Messi-led Inter-Miami in Champions League
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Newly crowned Concacaf Caribbean Cup champions Cavalier FC could face Lionel Messi’s Inter-Miami in the round of 16 of the Concacaf Champions Cup in March 2025.
In Tuesday’s draw, which was broadcast live, Cavalier FC, who earned a bye to the Round of 16 after beating Cibao FC of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Cup final, was the fifth ranked team of the five teams that drew a bye.
Inter-Miami who were a controversial MLS selection will face Sporting Kansas City in the all-MLS first round with the winners on aggregate over two legs advancing to face the first time qualifiers.
The competition is set to start in the first week of February.
Cavalier FC is the third Jamaican team to win the competition after both Harbour View and Portmore United each won the competition twice.
Cavalier FC, who were beaten in the final last year, won the title on away goals after they finished tied 2-2 on aggregate against Cibao FC.
Cavalier FC won the first leg in Kingston 1-0, but lost the return leg 2-1.
