Late double from Nelson power Mt Pleasant to win over Humble Lion
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Nicholas Nelson came off the bench to score a late double as Mt Pleasant FA beat Humble Lion 4-1 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Monday and reclaimed the lead in the Jamaica Premier League.
Mt Pleasant FA were leading 2-1 late in the encounter before Nelson killed of whatever chances Humble Lion had of at least earning a point.
The win was fourth in a row by Mt Pleasant FA and took them to 28 points from 13 games, one point ahead of Arnett Gardens who edged Harbour View 2-1, their sixth straight win.
Daniel Green gave Mt Pleasant FA the lead in the 36th minute before Kimoni Bailey doubled the advantage in the 44th minute with his eighth goal of the season.
Afiba Chambers pulled a goal back for Humble Lion when he scored in the 50th minute, powering a header from a corner just under the Mt Pleasant FA cross bar.
Nelson, however, scored in the 83rd minute to restore Mt Pleasant FA’s two goals lead then added a second and the team’s fourth in the 85th minute.
In the second game, Warner Brown gave Arnett Gardens the lead in the 18th minute when he converted from the penalty spot.
Kimani Arbouine added a second in the 57th minute but Oquassa Chung halved the deficit for Harbour View when he also scored from the spot in the 69th minute.
