If Garnet Silk were alive, he would be “a force to be reckoned with”, says Bridgett Anderson, the singer’s former manager. A leading light in the roots-reggae revival of the early 1990s, December 9 marks 30 years since his death.
Silk died at age 28 in a fire at his mother’s home in Manchester, three days after a rousing performance at Mirage nightclub in Kingston. His mother, Etiga Gray, also perished in the blaze which was caused when a propane tank on the compound exploded.
