Khadija Shaw shines with brace as Man City crush Leicester 4-0
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica’s Khadija Shaw scored twice to help Manchester City secure a dominant 4-0 victory over Leicester City in the Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Shaw opened the scoring in the second minute and doubled her tally in the 29th minute.
The other goals came from Jess Park, who struck in the 49th minute, and Australian striker Mary Fowler, who found the net in the 58th minute.
Sunday’s victory puts pressure on WSL leaders Chelsea, who are now five points ahead of Manchester City.
According to BBC Sport, Shaw is the division’s top scorer, with seven goals in her past four matches across all competitions.
The outlet also highlighted that since Shaw’s international debut in September 2021, she has scored 59 goals—at least 23 more than any other player during that period.
The 27-year-old striker appears poised for another award-winning season, having already earned the Professional Footballers’ Association Women’s Player of the Year award for her outstanding performance last season. She was also named the Women’s Super League Player of the Year for 2023-24 and Player of the Year at the Women’s Football Awards.
