KC lift Manning Cup title number 17, beat St Catherine High 3-1
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston College won their 17th ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup title after completing a 3-1 win over first time finalists St Catherine High at the National Stadium on Friday.
It was Kingston College’s third hold on the trophy in the last six staging of the competition as Vassell Reynolds became the fifth coach to win both the Manning Cup and Rural Area daCosta Cup, joining Frank Brown and Patrick ‘Jackie’ Walters.
Reynolds had won the daCosta Cup with Rusea’s High in 2011.
Kingston College lived up to their ‘favourite’ billing and led 3-0 before St Catherine High were able to pull a goal back.
Jaeshawn Edwards was left unmarked at the far post to head home a cross in the 36th minute and a minute into time added at the half time break, Demario Dailey swept home a cross from the right side to leave St Catherine High reeling.
They added a third goal in the 54th minute when Deshawn Byfield scored before an own goal in the 62nd minute gave St Catherine High some hope.
It was the fourth Manning Cup final loss for St Catherine High’s Coach Anthony Patrick and third in a row after two losses with Bridgeport High.
