Atalanta host AC Milan in thrilling Series A action

Juventus, Bologna in eagerly awaited showdown

Serie A takes centre stage this weekend with some mouth-watering clashes set to take place, firstly, high-flying sides Atalanta and AC Milan kick things off later today, then on Saturday, the unbeaten Juventus host the surging Bologna in another tasty matchup.

Event # 1 – SERIE A– Atalanta vs AC Milan– 2:45 PM

Two sides enjoying unbeaten streaks will light up Serie today, when red-hot Atalanta play host to a resurgent AC Milan team that is aiming to prove they will be contending for the title this season. Indeed, eight straight wins has seen Atalanta surge to second in the standing just behind leaders Napoli. Atalanta enter this match off the back of an impressive away win against Roma last weekend, their eighth-straight win, to put them within a point of Napoli, who leads the league. More importantly, their eighth-consecutive win also put them within one win of matching a club record streak of nine-straight Serie A victories, a record set back in 2020. With that said, Atalanta, who have scored at least twice in each of their last 11 home games, are the leading scorers in Serie A — five goals clear at the top of the scoring chart. More impressively is that Atalanta, who won the Europa League last season, remains unbeaten in Europe so far this season.

Meanwhile, AC Milan travel to Bergamo to face Serie A’s most in-form team, in confident mood, as they themselves have been in terrific form recently, having struck together a four-match winning streak. However, AC Milan will have to be at their absolute best to secure a result against Atalanta who defeated them 3-2 at this same venue almost a year ago to the day, and then went on to beat them in a Coppa Italia tie at their San Siro Stadium. However, AC Milan enter this match aiming to continue their recent good form, which includes a thrashing handed out to Real Madrid in Champions League action, and they head into this match off the back of a 3-0 beating of Empoli last weekend.

Key Stats

• Atalanta – Atalanta are on a 13-match unbeaten streak and have won eight straight games in all competitions.

• AC Milan – AC Milan are on an excellent run of form having gone unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions, winning their last four on the trot.

• Both sides – Atalanta have won their last three home matches, while AC Milan are unbeaten in their last four away matches.

The betting Tip. Atalanta Win.

Event # 2 SERIE A – Juventus vs Bologna– 12:00 PM

The only remaining unbeaten side in Serie A, Juventus, will host a resurging Bologna side in an eagerly awaited Serie A showdown. Even though Juventus has been unbeaten in the league, fans have been getting frustrated with the number of stalemates they have been having, as they enter this game off the back of three straight draws in all competitions: first drawing 0-0 with AC Milan, then 0-0 against Aston Villa in Champions League action, before playing out another 1-1 draw with Lecce last weekend. Worryingly for ‘The Old Lady’, Juventus, is their lack of wins on home turf, having secured just two wins from their last six home games in Serie A, while the other four ended in stalemates.

Bologna, on the other hand, enter this contest having won twice and lost one of their last three overall matches — they lost 1-2 in Champions League action against French side Lille but followed that up with two straight wins. Firstly, they hammered Venezia 3-0 before thrashing Monza 4-0 in their most recent game at the weekend. Bologna has done well on their travels so far this season in Serie A, winning three, drawing two and losing just once in their six away games. Indeed, having lost star players Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee to Arsenal and Manchester United in the summer, many expected them to struggle, but they have started the season in excellent form to sit eight in the table, suffering just two losses from their opening thirteen matches.

Key Stats

• Juventus – Juventus have won three and drawn four of their last seven home matches to remain unbeaten at home this season.

• Bologna – Bologna have won three, drawn two and suffered two losses on their travels so far this season. Worryingly for Bologna is that their last away win against Juventus came back in 2011.

• Both sides – Eleven of Juventus last 12 home games have seen under 3.5 goals being scored, while 12 of Bologna’s last 14 overall matches have seen under 3.5 goals being scored.

The betting Tip. Juventus win.
