Delays to be expected for some RITC disbursements — TAJ
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Some successful applicants for the Government’s Reverse Income Tax Credit (RITC) may experience delays with receiving the disbursements of the $20,000 one-time payment in their bank accounts.
The latest update comes from the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ).
The authority said it is currently in dialogue with the Accountant General’s Department (AGD) to rectify the issue in addition to contacting the affected individuals to inform them of the delay.
It advised, however, that the issue should be resolved within the next three business days. Applicants may submit their queries at (888) TAX-BACK/ (888) 829-2225 or TaxBack@taj.gov.jm for updates.
Eligible individuals who have not yet submitted their applications are reminded that the deadline has been extended to Friday, December 13, and that they may do so via the tax authority’s portal at www.jamaiacytax.gov.jm.
The disbursement process spans a minimum of four weeks from the time a confirmed application is submitted. Beneficiaries are reminded that they will receive a notification via SMS text message or email advising when the disbursement is made to the financial Institution or remittance agency of their choice, as well as if there is a subsequent challenge with the information provided.
