Tiffany Blu wins Jamaica Jockey’s Agent Trophy
Tiffany Blu, trained by Gary Crawford, showed tremendous improvement since his maiden win on October 20 with a stunning victory in the $1.1-million Jamaica Jockey’s Agent Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
The three-year-old bay filly Tiffany Blu ran down Smart Trick in the closing stages of the six furlong (1,200m) to win by a length. She completed the Restricted Allowance contest for native-bred three-year-olds (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-olds and upward (maidens) in 1:14.0.
The event got off to a blistering start, with Smart Trick (Tevin Foster) taking the early lead. Tiffany Blu broke well, settling into second place, while Raddesh Roman carefully positioned her to make a strategic move.
As the field approached the half-mile turn (800m), Roman cleverly held Tiffany Blu back, allowing Titan Tempo (Robert Halledeen) and Catalina Princess (Shane Ellis) to go by. However, Tiffany Blu was far from out of contention.
Roman’s tactical move paid off as he guided Tiffany Blu along the inside rails, cutting the turn and positioning his mount for a thrilling finish. When all seemed lost at the furlong pole, Roman made a bold switch to mid-track, and Tiffany Blu suddenly found an extra gear. Titan Tempo finished third.
