Mouttet Mile major contenders wrap up preparation
AS the December 7 Mouttet Mile approaches, major contenders have completed their final gallops, showcasing their readiness for the anticipated showdown.
On Saturday, November 30 trainer Jason DaCosta’s stable put forth a number of horses.
Funcaandun clocked 1:27.0 for seven furlongs while Intrestntimesahead finished at 1:25.4 for the same distance. Is That A Fact galloped 1:28.0 over seven furlongs.
Trainer Rowan Mathie Jr’s Pack Plays also looked sharp, completing six furlongs in 1:14.1, while Spirit of Light posted a 52.3 for four furlongs.
Barnaby, trained by Anthony Nunes, had a six-furlong gallop in 1:14.0 after a strong debut two weeks prior.
Sunday, December 1 saw Gary Subratie’s stable in action with Atomica covering five furlongs out of the chute in 1:01.2, Desert of Malibu clocked 1:12.0 for six furlongs, while Sistren Treasure completed 5½ furlongs in 1:10.2.
Run Julie Run, fresh off her strong showing in the Jamaica Cup, eased through five furlongs in 1:04.2.
On Sunday, December 1 Legacy Isle, one of the foreigners occupying one of the six guaranteed starting stalls, galloped for the first time on local soil.
Trained by last year’s Mouttet Mile-winning trainer Rohan Crichton, Legacy Isle, who exited the quarantine station on Tuesday last, galloped a mile in a time of 1:42.0 coming out of the gates.
With most of the gallops completed the stage is set for an exciting Mouttet Mile during which these horses will compete for glory on race day.
