Venemus joins forces with Agent 13 for ‘You’re Not Ready For This’

Typical of studio musicians/producers, Venemus never discards anything he records. Like his colleagues, he believes hidden tapes are potential hit songs.

That is hope for You’re Not Ready For This, a song he recorded with deejay Agent 13 (also known as Orrahjahni). The Ohio-based Venemus said it came from an impromptu studio session.

“This song is not based on any personal experience, but actually started to take shape one day while Agent 13 was in the studio working on one of his tracks and I jokingly said to him, ‘we should do a collab one day’, and his response was basically, ‘hell yeah!!!’ So, I went in my stash and found the instrumental that was titled ‘You’re Not Ready For This’ which was earmarked for a love song but when I thought about Orrahjahni’s lyrical style, I decided to write some new lyrics to provocatively highlight some of the follies and idiosyncrasies we face in life,” Venemus explained.

You’re Not Ready For This is Venemus’ first song for 2025, as “certain circumstances that were beyond my control” stalled his usual steady slate of releases. Prior to setting up shop in the United States Midwest, Venemus lived for many years in South Florida where he was an artiste, producer and studio engineer.

Born in Port Morant, St Thomas, he has been musically-inclined since his years as a student at Happy Grove High School in neighbouring Portland. Venemus’ interest in music grew while he was in the Jamaica Defence Force, which led to stints in bands like Defiance, U7 and Vengeance.

Believe and Body Medicine are two of Venemus’ previous songs. Feevah, his only album, was released in 2017.
