Nioka Grant makes debut with The Blood Covered It All
On November 14, gospel recording artiste Nioka Grant released her debut single The Blood Covered It All.
Produced by Andre Paul Wright, the song’s inspiration details Nioka’s journey as a born-again Christian.
“What inspired me to do the song was simply because of my love for God. Just thinking about His mercies and His love for us. It blows my mind! I was also encouraged by a friend, Itego Banner, to actually do the song. I was a bit reserved, but I went in faith,” Nioka told the Jamaica Observer on Thursday.
She added: “The song is definitely coming from a deep, personal experience in my Christian journey. So many times I have fallen and failed God miserably, but he keeps running after me just the same. His goodness doesn’t change, and His love remains unconditional. He loves a sinner just like me, unworthy though I be.”
Although she has been singing professionally for the past 10 years, this is Grant’s first release.
“I have done many covers of other songs on my YouTube page, but this is my first official release,” said Grant.
Her musical journey started while singing in the choir at Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist which is located in De La Vega City, Spanish Town. She is currently the church’s musical director.
Grant got baptized at the age of nine.
“I decided to be a Christian, simply put, because I love God with my whole heart. He has blessed me immensely with this gift of singing and I am so happy to use it for Him. My musical journey has had its ups and downs. It can be challenging at times, but when you remember your purpose God has given you in the Earth, the journey gets easier. Sometimes to find the right songs is not easy, it really comes from a place of a true relationship with God, and He will inspire your heart with the right songs to sing at the right time. But my journey is also filled with many valuable lessons I learnt. I am grateful to be on this journey and my intention is to bless the hearts of others through my ministry by the power of the Holy Spirit,” said Grant.
She told the Observer she is pleased with the feedback that she has received for
The Blood Covered it All.
“The feedback is very positive. People have shared it social media, they also commented to say they are really blessed by the message in the song and how they are proud of me. However, I want to improve on my musical skills, while becoming a successful singer, while building more on my online presence,” Grant disclosed.
