Mt Pleasant hammer Vere 6-0
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Daniel Green scored a double as former champions Mt Pleasant FA romped to a 6-0 win over 10-man Vere United in their rescheduled Jamaica Premier League game played at Drewsland Mini stadium on Thursday.
The win saw Mt Pleasant FA take over the lead in the points tables with 22 points from 11 games, leading on goal-difference over Waterhouse who played out a 1-1 draw with Montego Bay United in the second game of a double header.
Montego Bay United improved to third place on 21 points, leading Arnett Gardens on more goals scored as both teams are tied on points and goal-difference.
Vere United meanwhile slipped into last place on nine points, the same as fellow Clarendon team Chapelton Maroons.
Mt Pleasant scored three times in a five-minute period in the first half to wrest control of the game from Vere United who have only won once in their last 10 games.
Jahshaun Anglin kicked off the scoring when he netted in the 23rd minute, Green doubled the lead two minutes later and Raheem Edwards added a third goal in the 27th minute.
Kimoni Bailey made it 4-0 in time added at the end of the first half.
Vere United were reduced to 10 men in the 61st minute when Dayne Ewen, who came on as a substitute, was sent off.
Edwards meanwhile missed a penalty in the 64th minute.
Green completed his brace when she scored his team’s fifth goal in the 78th minute and Tavin Shaw rounded out the scoring in the 83rd minute.
In the second game, Brian Brown snatched a point for Montego Bay United when he scored in the 80th minute after Andre Fletcher had given Waterhouse the lead from the penalty spot in the ninth minute.
