Last Sunday (November 24, 2024) the scenic Craigbank Estate in St Andrew came alive as RA Williams Distributors Ltd, in collaboration with Square Pharmaceuticals, gathered on its beautiful lawn to officially launch Iracet — the first generic levetiracetam in Jamaica.
The prestigious event attended by a number of medical professionals including neurosurgeons, general practitioners, pharmacists and educators who came together to witness the revolutionary moment unfold as they also took the time to learn more about the life-saving drug, while discussing its affordability and importance in the treatment of epilepsy (seizures) locally.
Providing opportunities for networking and conversation, the launch event also saw insightful presentations from medical and other practitioners such as Dr Ernestine Watson, clinical pharmacist and lecturer, who delivered the keynote address; Dionne Gayle, assistant chief education officer in the Ministry of Education. who spoke on the impact of epilepsy on school-age children as well as several other guests and members of the RA Williams team.
