It’s Sting Live!
Boxing Day stage show promises more from performers
Tahheer Laing, the new CEO of Supreme Promotions — promoters of Sting Live — promises that the revamping of the event will satisfy music lovers.
The popular show was officially launched at the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport in New Kingston on Tuesday.
“I look to keep the young artistes in the industry having a gateway different from
Instagram, YouTube, and those platforms. This year, we’re rebranding in a sense… in light of everything that is happening. It’s now Sting Live, where we’re focused on longer performances and less artistes,” Laing said at Tuesday’s launch, adding that the brand is moving away from a surplus in acts to give each performer a fair opportunity to shine.
Sting Live, which will take place on December 26 at JamWorld in Portmore, St Catherine, will feature Tommy Lee Sparta, Turbulence, Teflon, Gyptian, Jamal, Quada, Jahmiel, Bushman, Dwayne Stephenson, Shane O, Macka Diamond, Laden, Skippa, Ace Gawd, Natty Sean, General B, and some emerging acts.
The promoters will also be hosting Hawwt Chocolate at Sugarman’s Beach in Portmore on December 28.
Meanwhile, Deanroy Bernard, permanent secretary with responsibility for entertainment, culture and special projects in the ministry, noted that it will continue to rally behind the Sting brand because of its continuous development of the entertainment industry.
“Sting is a part of our culture and we will continue to support, participate, and celebrate Sting… We look forward to Sting and we vow that the ministry will continue its contribution. This is what helped to put Jamaica on the map… It’s one of those things you can use to identify where you’re from wherever you go in the world,” Bernard said at the launch.
Sting returned in 2022 after a seven-year break.
Held at Plantation Cove in St Ann it attracted a strong crowd with top artistes.
