Kingston man charged with robbery
KINGSTON, Jamaica— A 23-year-old man has been charged after allegedly robbing an elderly man in North Parade, Kingston on November 11.
Reports from the Central Police are that about 8:04 pm, Michael Laing, otherwise called ‘Mark’ of Charles Street and Rose Lane addresses in Kingston, approached an elderly man who was awaiting public transportation, before allegedly removing a wallet containing J$12,000 and other personal documents from the senior citizen’s pockets.
Police say the elderly man realised and tried to retrieve his possessions, however Laing brandished a knife and then fled the scene on foot. A report was made to the police and Laing was subsequently taken into custody and charged on Tuesday, November 26.
He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, December 4.
