Bartlett welcomes non-stop London Heathrow/ MoBay air service
KINGSTON, Jamaica- Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has welcomed the announcement that Virgin Atlantic will commence non-stop flight service between London Heathrow Airport and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay in Summer 2025.
“This is an exciting development for Jamaica’s tourism industry which will make it even more seamless to get to the island,” Bartlett said.
He says this “will substantially boost airlift and access to our destination.”
The flight will operate four times weekly, and as such, the tourism minister is expecting a major increase in British visitor arrivals.
The Jamaica Tourist Board says arrivals from the United Kingdom have already reached record-breaking levels, with figures for January to June 2024 showing a 14 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
This represents an increase of over 100,000 UK visitors to the island during the period.
