DJ Spiceman says Never Late
One thing DJ Spiceman has learned in his 30-year music career is the importance of patience.
The veteran singjay recently released the aptly titled Never Late, his first EP.
The project has six songs, including the title track, User and No More Troubles, which features singer Jah Niceness.
“As you know, they say it’s never too late for a shower of rain. It’s a wonderful feeling to finally have this EP out; it’s self-produced so it’s a joy,” said DJ Spiceman.
The St Ann-born artiste started production on the EP two years ago. During that time, he also recorded songs for other producers in Florida and Jamaica.
DJ Spiceman credits his association with stalwarts such as Sugar Minott for developing his capabilities as a producer. The influential singer produced Miss Elegant, his first song, during the 1990s when DJ Spiceman was part of his Youthman Promotions company.
He moved to Kingston after working on sound systems in St Ann and kept performing and recording while serving in the Jamaica Defence Force.
DJ Spiceman did several songs for Sugar Minott. In recent years, he has recorded songs for other producers including Carl Melody and Jason Bromfield.
He is banking on Never Late “to gain and touch more fans across the world and to make a difference in someone’s life when it comes to conscious reggae-dancehall music”.
