JCSA Manchester Chapter installs wellness room at Sydney L Blake Basic
THE Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) Manchester Chapter has taken another step in its ongoing support of Sydney L Blake Basic School in Mile Gully, Manchester, with the recent official hand-over of a newly established wellness room.
This facility, designed to support the physical well-being of students and staff, was formally dedicated during a special ceremony, marking the chapter’s continued commitment to the school it adopted in 2019.
The JCSA Manchester Chapter has been actively involved with Sydney L Blake Basic School, making various donations over the years to enhance the school’s environment.
“This new wellness room is the latest contribution in a series of initiatives led by the chapter to provide students and staff with a supportive educational setting,” the association said in a statement.
In attendance at the hand-over ceremony were JCSA President Techa Clarke-Griffiths, alongside third vice president and south-central regional zonal chairman Alrington Roberts; general secretary Tifonie Powell-Williams; Manchester chapter chair Paulette Ferguson; Manchester Chapter executive, south-central regional administrator Natasha Rankine; and public relations and communications officer Shanee Grant.
Clarke-Griffiths, in addressing attendees, expressed the Manchester Chapter’s pride in its relationship with Sydney L Blake Basic School.
“[It’s] a partnership first established under immediate past president O’Neil Grant. The Chapter’s commitment to supporting the school’s growth and well-being initiatives, underscores the significance of the wellness room as a designated space where students and teachers can receive care when feeling unwell,” she said.
“This hand-over marks a meaningful addition to the school, reflecting the JCSA Manchester Chapter’s ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the educational environment for the students and staff at its adopted institution,” she added.
The Manchester Chapter commended its sponsors who contributed towards the wellness room, namely Jermacs Pharmacy, Meds and More Pharmacy, Consolidated Health Services, Haughton’s Pharmacy, Impact Trading Company, Johnson’s Pharmacy, and Three Angels’ Pharmacy.
