WATCH: 15-y-o autistic girl missing in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – A political aspirant and the relatives of a 15-year-old girl with autism are pleading for additional resources from the police to aid in the search for her after she went missing from her home in Spice Grove, Manchester, on Wednesday.
“We are asking the police to dispatch the canine unit so that the dogs can follow a scent and be able to make the search more effective. We are also appealing to the Jamaica Defense Force to aid in the search. We would like all hands on board, so that the search can be effective,” said Jamaica Labour Party aspirant for Manchester North West, Damion Young.
The missing teenager is Georgiana Bramwell. Relatives said she was last seen on Wednesday, November 20, around 1:00 p.m. at her home, wearing a pink top, blue and white jeans, and brown slippers, with her hair styled in large twists.
As of mid-afternoon Saturday, the search was still ongoing. Young shared that on Friday, police and firefighters extended their search as far as Pepper in St Elizabeth.
“We are asking for citizens around who might have seen young Georgiana to alert the Manchester police or family members. All is not entirely well with her. We are optimistic and praying that she will turn up, someone will see her and can alert the family members. The family members are distraught. They are very concerned because Georgiana has been missing since Wednesday,” he added.
Her mother also made an emotional plea to the public for assistance in finding her daughter.
“Anyone who sees her, please return her to [us]. I beg of you,” she said.
