Mr Lee delivered a significant performance for a juvenile, annihilating the competition in this year’s renewal of the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup.
With Matthew Bennett in the saddle, Mr Lee crushed his rivals in the Maiden Special Weight contest for native-bred two-year-olds over seven furlongs (1,400m). The margin of victory was a staggering 20½ lengths, achieved with effortless ease.
Mr Lee’s winning time of 1:30.0 (24.1 x 48.4 x 1:15.4) underscored his superiority, leaving the field in his wake.
Running with the visor on, Mr Lee broke off well when the starter pushed the go button, battling with All Together (Oneil Mullings) down the backstretch. Going into the half-mile (800m), Mr Lee took control of the race and began to draw away from rivals with every stride taken.
Turning for home with no challenger in sight, Mr Lee accelerated and powered home to a convincing win. Althia (Phillip Parchment) finished second and Badgal Caleesi (Larris Allen) came home in third place.
