Woman on wounding charge not fit to plead
A psychiatric evaluation report has revealed that Danna Reid, the St James woman accused of stabbing another woman multiple times, is not fit to plead.
The revelation was made when the case was mentioned in the parish court before presiding judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton last Wednesday.
Reid is represented by attorney-at-law Henry McCurdy.
During Wednesday’s proceedings the complainant enquired about the possibility of dropping the case due to Reid’s mental condition. However, Fairclough-Hylton informed her that the decision was hers.
The judge then remanded Reid until December 2, when a fitness to plead hearing will be held.
According to court documents, the incident reportedly took place on September 21 after the complainant took her son to see his father in Flanker, St James.
It is alleged that the complainant entered the house and called her son’s aunt. The aunt came out and called the complainant’s name, and when the complainant turned around, she saw Reid, who attacked and stabbed her all over.
The matter was reported to the police and, when cautioned, Reid reportedly said: “She always a trouble mi, and mi get irritated and stab her up.”
