WATCH: Shaw endorses Craighead councillor as his replacement
MANCHESTER, Jamaica— Longstanding Member of Parliament for Manchester North East Audley Shaw has endorsed Craighead Councillor Omar Miller as his successor to contest the next parliamentary election in the constituency.
Shaw made the announcement on Sunday night to a crowd of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters during the Manchester North Eastern constituency conference held at the Christiana High School.
Over the weekend, the MP, who served the constituency for over 30 years, confirmed his departure from representational politics, following more than a year of speculation.
Both Hidran McKulsky, an educator and principal of Holmwood Technical, and Miller, had expressed interest in replacing Shaw.
