Prince of Norway tours Rocky Point in Clarendon
Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway, and Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Development Programme on Monday visited Rocky Point in Clarendon.
He was joined by Member of Parliament for South East Clarendon, Pearnel Charles Jr, who detailed the devastating impacts of climate change on Jamaica, citing Hurricane Beryl’s impact on Rocky Point as a recent example.
Norway is a major contributor to the Blue Justice Caribbean Hub, launched in Jamaica almost exactly a year ago, on November 17, 2023.
The hub aims to curtail the impact of illegal and unregulated fishing in the Caribbean promoting sustainable fishing and increasing food security.
Gavin Bellamy, CEO of the National Fisheries Authority and Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Mining, Franklin Witter, are also on site for the Crown Prince’s tour of Rocky Point, part of the royalty’s three-day visit to Jamaica.
