Jaydon Hibbert gets JOA’s Olympic Spirit Award
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Triple jumper Jaydon Hibbert was on Saturday presented with the Jamaica Olympic Association’s (JOA) Olympic Spirit Award for his exemplary performance in Paris, securing fourth place in his pet event despite being injured.
Commenting on the award, the JOA said “Dauntless and with inborn patriotism and though not at his best in the men’s triple jump at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, he proved to be the finest with exemplary Olympic spirit that earned him an ovation.”
The association said Hibbert, despite being injured, in every sense of the term was a fitting example of the epithet “give it my all”.
Noting that it celebrates character, valour and unyielding grit, the JOA said Jaydon is deserving of an encore for his performance, hence the JOA’s Olympic Spirit Award.
“The heart of a gladiator will always beat with the lifeblood of a champion and Jaydon is of that mettle. The Jamaica Olympic Association applauds Jaydon Hibbert, a distinguished brother of our household and an exemplary Olympic Spirit awardee,” the JOA said.
