JPS conducting meter mapping exercise in Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has announced that it will be conducting another meter mapping exercise, this time in Kingston during November and December.
The light and power company conducted a similar exercise in St Catherine earlier this year.
The company said the latest exercise is part of efforts to serve its customers better. It has told customers that “JPS representatives will be visiting your premises during the month of November to December to carry out a meter mapping exercise and will require access to your meter for only a few minutes”.
“The team that visits your premises to check on your meter will have their work photo IDs, indicating that they are a JPS contractor, which they must present to you. They will also advise you of the reason for the visit,” the company added.
It said the exercise is being carried out to benefit customers in numerous ways, “the most impactful includes receiving direct messages about planned and unplanned outages, as well as faster responses to outages and power quality issues”.
It said its teams will also now be better able to coordinate disaster and emergency responses while working to prevent equipment failures and outages.
If for any reason customers do not feel comfortable allowing the JPS representatives access, they may call the JPS Customer Care Centre at 888CALLJPS for confirmation of the activity in their area.
