30+ Fashion Show and Expo comes to Portmore Community College
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Portmore in St Catherine will once again experience another unforgettable experience as the 30+ Fashion Show and Expo takes centre stage at the Portmore Community College on November 30.
The 30+ Fashion Show will showcase stunning designs celebrating the beauty and diversity of women in their 30s and beyond. This high-energy fashion showcase will have the best of our local designers who will vie for the opportunity to showcase their brand in Europe in 2025 at the Scandinavian International Fashion (SIF) Week, in Stockholm, Sweden.
Designed for the modern evolved woman, the event extends to everyone eager to learn how to embody this inspiring ideal.
Beyond the glamour of fashion, makeup, hair affairs, nails, this comprehensive event offers a holistic approach to personal growth. Industry leaders will share valuable insights during motivational workshops covering essential topics such as travel, real estate, financing, and empowerment.
During the event, there will be a full day of entertainment and what the organisers dub, a Black Friday ‘Sale-a-bration’ for everyone.
Chief Executive Officer of Compass Media and Event Conceptualiser, Stephanie Elliott-Gunning says the vision is to have modern, evolved, mature women not recede into the background but instead hold their true places as trendsetters and leaders and of course, be given an opportunity to live their dreams. She said the event has been long in coming.
“Since 2014, I have been on and off, trying to establish my brand through my totally unique Talk Show concept but COVID came in and interrupted that vision. Several delays later, I am still on that path. In 2019, I was introduced to Swedish Fashion Designer and CEO of Scandanavian International Fashion Week, Sonja Anderson and my first task was to get a Jamaican model to participate in her event, in Sweden. I did and we have partnered ever since,” Elliott-Gunning said.
She said she was honoured this year when she was accorded the SIF Caribbean Brand Ambassador.
“It has opened the door for us to get some of our local fashion designers and models the international recognition they deserve. Through my event, I will be identifying the talents and will be looking to corporate Jamaica’s support to sponsor our initiative to bring global recognition to our local talent. There is also a plan to bring SIF here to Jamaica,” Elliott-Gunning said.
“We are inviting Jamaican women to join the movement towards becoming the best version of themselves. We have sacrificed so much and as the proverbial saying goes, ‘it’s never too late to start living your best life,” Elliott-Gunning added.
