WATCH: JLP supporters in St Elizabeth North West say JC Hutchinson must go
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Supporters of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) took to the streets on Wednesday to protest what they described as a poor performance from Member of Parliament for St Elizabeth North West, JC Hutchinson.
Calling for the removal of Hutchinson as MP for the constituency and for younger representation, the residents said they would not stop protesting until the prime minister addressed the issue.
“Mr Hutchinson over the years, he’s a poor representative of North West St Elizabeth. And you know we are labourites and we won’t vote for any other party than labourites so we need a change,” one protestor told Observer Online.
Another resident shared that, “Over the years him in power and I don’t see what he is doing for North West St Elizabeth. So him must go, him time expire, so he must go, make a younger set come and take his seat.”
One protestor criticised the poor conditions of the roads in the constituency stating that Hutchinson has not delivered on any of his promises.
“He fooled the people them and the people them make up their mind now say higher authority need to come on the ground and come know what is going on. I don’t know how it will go on. When you check in a Carisbrook a bere bad road. New Town, Providence, Lover’s Lane, bere bad road. A bere drop the people them a slide and drop, mash up them car. And a bere big promise, all now we don’t see nothing. Yes, we don’t see nothing,” he said.
“JC not doing nothing for Lacovia all now. We nuh see him do nothing all now. Look on the straight road, look how the road stay. How JC a behave with us like that? Him have to go away one side man, it’s his time to move now,” another angry party supporter questioned.
With two more demonstrations planned, the protestors said they will not stop protesting until the prime minister resolves their issues.
