VAR to be used in Jamaica vs USA Nations League quarterfinals
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system will be used at Thursday’s Concacaf Nations League A quarter-finals first leg between Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz and the United States at the National Stadium, set to start at 8:00 pm.
The system, which will augment the usual complement of officials, is being introduced at this stage of the competition and was not used in the previous group stages.
It will be the third time VAR has been used in Jamaica. The first time was in 2022 in a World Cup qualifying game against Mexico and last year in a Nations League game against Canada.
Jamaica and the United States, who will meet again on Monday in the USA, are seeking a place in the semi-finals of the Nations Cup competition.
