WATCH: Holness meets with youth mayors
The 2024/2025 cohort of youth mayors last week paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Andrew Holness at Jamaica House.
During the visit, the prime minister engaged the youth mayors in a very detailed and inspiring conversation about local government and how it intertwines with central government.
The junior mayors used the opportunity to ask questions and provide their feedback on a number of issues they believe are of importance to societal development. Watch the video below for highlights.
Earlier, the youth mayors paid a visit to the leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding.
The tradition of courtesy calls on the Offices of the Governor-General, Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition during Local Government and Community Month began in 2001, and continues to be one of the headline activities of the month, observed every November, where the system of local government and its people are celebrated, the Ministry of Local Government said.
