Work begins on Troy Bridge
Prime Minister Andrew Holness (right) along with senior director at the National Works Agency Varden Downer, tour the Troy Bridge construction site in Trelawny on Friday. The bridge, which links several Trelawny, Manchester, and St Elizabeth communities, collapsed in August 2021, during the passage of Tropical Storm Grace.
Holness says the rebuilding of the bridge, at a cost of over $200 million, will not only make life easier for residents, but will also facilitate smoother transit for businesses, thereby stimulating economic activity in the surrounding areas.
He said the funding for the bridge comes directly from the national budget.
