NAHC promises transformative experience at The Art of Beauty trade show
The National Association of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists (NAHC) is hosting its annual trade show, The Art of Beauty, inside the Karl Hendrickson Auditorium at Jamaica College in St Andrew on Sunday.
The event features an international gathering of beauty luminaries, professionals, distributors, industry leaders and experts, as well as up-and-coming talent from across the nation. In keeping with this year’s theme, The Art of Beauty 2024 promised to be a transformative experience for all.
The NAHC boasts a rich heritage of education and excellence for its membership. Now in its 29th year, the trade show emphasises the association’s objectives by providing training, upgrading and exposure to members incorporating the latest in technology and advancements in the beauty services industry while integrating high fashion, hair, make-up and nail artistry.
Therefore, the intention of this immersive approach is to support attendees in positioning themselves at the forefront of the beauty and wellness industry, the NAHC said in a press release, noting that the event will deliver on this objective through workshops, presentations, demonstrations and a myriad of other stimulating teaching and learning activities.
President of the NAHC, Marcia Harris, said attendees can look forward to a wide array of educational opportunities.
“We have arranged a range of hands-on classes, led by some of the most respected and talented names in the industry. The sessions will cover the latest trends, techniques, and tools in hairdressing, barbering, skincare, nail artistry and other areas, offering invaluable insights for both professionals and students. It will be an exciting day, appealing to all who want to see what’s new and to explore options for enhancing their skills and personal styles,” she said.
Karline Ricketts, Chairperson Fundraising Committee, noted: “One of the highlights of the event will be the competitions that showcase the creativity and skill of our industry’s brightest stars. Competitors will have the chance to demonstrate their talent in categories ranging from cutting-edge hair designs to innovative makeup application. Winners will earn prestigious titles, and also receive exclusive prizes and gifts.”
She added that in keeping with the NAHC’s goal of nurturing the next generation of beauty professionals there would be special gifts for student competitors.
“These young talents will receive industry-leading products, tools, and educational resources to help them continue honing their craft and building their careers. As in the areas of music and sports Jamaica abounds with talent in the beauty industry and the show, particularly the competitions, will create opportunities for emerging talent to be exposed,” Ricketts said.
NAHC’s The Art of Beauty annual trade show is more than just an event, it is a platform for growth and development. Attendees will have the opportunity to expand their skill sets, learn from industry leaders, and stay ahead of the curve in a constantly evolving industry, the organisation said.
The trade show will also feature keynote speaker Dr Franklin Johnston, who will share insights on the future of beauty and offer valuable perspectives on how to navigate and thrive in this competitive field, according to the release.
Harris also highlighted the outstanding role that sponsors play in enabling the staging of the trade show each year.
“We recognise the invaluable role of our loyal sponsors who facilitate the staging of this event and this year we will enjoy the support of sponsors Riddim FM/Mello TV, Jahmek Beauty Systems, and Beauty Elements,” Harris said.
