Who will make the Best Reggae Grammy cut?
Nominations to be revealed on today
The nominations in the 67th annual Grammy Awards will be announced on Friday, November 8.
One of the most anticipated categories by the reggae and dancehall fraternity is the award for Best Reggae Album.
First instituted at the 1985 ceremony as the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording, the inaugural winner was Black Uhuru with the album Anthem, which was produced by Sly and Robbie.
This year, some 75 albums were submitted, but who will make the cut among the final five nominees?
Although the category has made some strides, it is a tricky situation when trying to arrive at a definitive selection for annual predictions.
However, the following projects stand a good chance of being among the nominees:
*Evolution – The Wailers
*Bob Marley: One Love – music inspired by the film – various artistes
*Beauty in the Acoustic – SOJA
*Mirror 25 – Spice
*In Search of Zion – Protoje & Zion I Kings
* UB45 – UB40
Quite a few albums submitted were released during the qualifying period September 16, 2023 to August 30, 2024. These include Generation of Kings by Masicka, The Gentle Man by Romain Virgo, Apex by Bugle, Never Gets Late Here by Shenseea, Nectar of the Gods by Etana, and Take it Easy by Collie Buddz.
The 67th Grammy Awards will take place on February 2, 2025 at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, California.
