PTA calls on parents to embrace AI
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Local parents are being encouraged by the National Parent-Teacher Association (NPTAJ) to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI),
NPTAJ President Stewart Jacobs said, “For the most part, there is resistance, and rightly so. The first rule of nature is self-preservation, so a level of apprehension toward gadgets and their content is understandable and may delay acceptance. However, before we completely resist, let us investigate, research, seek guidance, and then decide to embrace this new reality.”
The message comes as the organization celebrates Parent Month 2024 under the theme, ‘Surf Beyond the Surface’.
Stressing that AI could not replicate or substitute true human nature or parenting, the NPTAJ president encouraged parents to stick to their roots.
“As we exist in this new age, let us be guided by the fundamentals that have kept us grounded: good manners, high standards, and unquestionable integrity. Let us practice love and respect for all humankind, regardless of race, creed, or other orientations,” he said.
